The Agricultural Engineering Department stands at the forefront of modern agricultural technology and sustainable farming solutions, offering comprehensive education and research programs that bridge the gap between engineering principles and agricultural practices. Our department is committed to developing skilled professionals who can address the evolving challenges of food security, environmental sustainability, and agricultural mechanization in the 21st century. The department offers three distinct academic levels to accommodate students at various stages of their educational and professional journey, which are: Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor of Technology (B. TECH), and Master of Science (MSc.), and offers four specialized tracks that address critical aspects of modern agricultural engineering which are; Agricultural Mechanization, Irrigation & Drainage, Soil & Water and Postharvest engineering

Brief Biography
Prof. Isaac Gibberson Dukuh is a seasoned researcher, teacher/trainer and curriculum developer. He has wide experience in both quantitative and qualitative research. Prof. Dukuh has over twenty-one years experience as a teacher and researcher at the Bolgatanga Technical University and University of Cape Coast. Prof. Dukuh has published extensively in internationally recognized journals and local journals. In addition to teaching, he supervises Master's degree students. He has held several administrative positions at the Bolgatanga Technical University as HoD Agricultural Department, Dean School of Engineering and Acting Rector Bolgatanga Polytechnic (Briefly). Prof. Dukuh has attended several workshops and training programs in research, postharvest technology and irrigation technology both locally and in the Netherlands at Wagnigen University and University of Applied Science Dronten. Prof. Dukuh implemented a Skill Development Fund (SDF) project funded by Denmark to Develop Innovative modules to train vegetable farmers and Agricultural Extension staff (AEs) on Postharvest handling from 2017-2018. He holds PhD in Postharvest Technology and MPhil in Agricultural Engineering. His current research interest includes, Improving Production, Preservation and Marketing of Orange Fleshed Sweet potato a relatively cheap and rich source of Vitamin A for Ghanaian children. He is also interested in deficit irrigation to maximize water use efficiency in the face of dwindling global water resources for domestic, industrial and agricultural use. Prof. Dukuh is also into developing modules and training vegetable farmers on Postharvest handling practices and GlobalGap Practices to improve exports into international markets.

Brief Biography
Joseph Apodi is a young energetic and committed lecturer with over 15 years of teaching experience in the Agricultural Engineering Department of the Bolgatanga Technical University, delivering lectures to group of students using advanced teaching techniques to inspire and motivate students from various social and cultural backgrounds for higher level qualifications and employment. Even though Apodi has a strong mechanical Engineering background he has been left in the department for the past years due to his excellent administrative, verbal communication and written skills along with constructive and effective teaching methods that promote a stimulating learning environment for both staffs and students to excel in all endeavors. He is able to work in a managerial role or as part of a team with proven ability to successfully work to tight schedules and deadlines. Apodi is currently looking for a suitable opportunity for further academic and professional development.
Notable Achievements:
- Academic Counsellor, Responsible for Provision of educational guidance and assistance for students by planning schedules, recommending courses (Major and Minor) and determining appropriate education solutions for students in the Department of Agricultural Engineering to make appropriate decisions and also follow through and track the advancement of these students until they graduate.
- Member of a Team that secured a grant from the Skills Development Fund (S.D.F) for the training of small farmers group from the University community on preservation of vegetables at the Department of Agricultural Engineering.
- Member of a Team that secured a grant from the Australian Embassy for a successful installation of a Solar Water Pumping System for the student’s hostel (Sumbrugu hall). Member for re-tooling of Laboratories and Workshop of Agricultural Engineering Department, for conversion into Technical University.
- Member of a team that developed HND Solar Energy Engineering Curriculum for the polytechnic which has been accepted by the academic board for onward submission to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for accreditation. It has since been accredited and the programme is set to run in the next academic year.
- Member of a team that developed HND Mechanical Engineering curriculum for the polytechnic which has been accepted by the academic board for onward submission to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for Accreditation. Mr. MAURICE M BRAIMAH is an efficient, talented, and hardworking Educator, Researcher and Competency Based Training and a Curriculum Expert in the fields of Agriculture Mechanization, Environmental Sciences and Automobile Engineering with all-inclusive understanding of Engineering processes and methods, including research development and related project implementations. Dedicated to accurate efficient work, highly skilled in service and maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of machines. Anxious to find a challenging and suitable engineering position with a determined organization that offers an opportunity for career development and advancement. He also Possess a good team spirit, deadline oriented. Mr. Braimah has Published extensively in an international Journals and conference with over 30 articles, book chapters and conference papers in related fields to his credit. He has reviewed papers for various international journals over the years. Brief Biography
Mr. Abdul-Aziz Issah has extensive experience in experimental techniques and design on biological conversion of agricultural wastes into bioenergy/chemical products. He has performed numerous studies on conversion of fat-based lignocellulose waste to biogas. His current research areas include algal, sunflower, castor-oil and false farm (Icacina oliviformis) plants cultivation on waste streams for conversion into biofuel /chemical products.

Ms. Azumah Lariba Cecilia is a dedicated lecturer in Postharvest Technology with a strong academic and professional background in the preservation, handling, and value addition of agricultural produce. With expertise spanning postharvest physiology, storage systems, packaging, quality control, and postharvest loss reduction, she brings both theoretical knowledge and practical experience to the classroom. Her teaching and research interests include sustainable postharvest practices, food safety standards, and innovations in storage and processing. She has been actively involved in training programs, student mentorship, and collaborative research aimed at enhancing food security and reducing postharvest losses across value chains. Passionate about knowledge sharing and capacity building, Ms. Cecilia is committed to producing industry-ready graduates and promoting technologies that benefit smallholder farmers, agro-processors, and the wider agricultural sector.

Brief Biography
Paul Abanga is a postharvest technologist in the field of Agriculture Who has interest in managing crop losses. These losses could be caused by biotic and abiotic environmental factors. He has worked with some institutions including the following: 1. Zuuri Organic Vegetables farmers Associations (ZOVFA) – a local NGO in Binduri as a project officer. 2. Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), Bawku. A volunteer. 3. Toende Rural Bank, Zebilla. Credit Officer. 4. Zebilla SHTS – a teacher and Dining Hall master. He has participated in a number of training and data collection exercises. Among them are: (a) The 2010 population and Housing Census as a field officer(enumerator) (b) The 2021 Population and Housing Census as a District trainer and a supervisor (c) The 2024 Integrated Business Establishment Survey (IBES) as a field officer (d) Grafting of organic mangoes for Sapelliga, Galaka and other communities in Bawku West district in 2009 as a Project Officer – ZOVFA. He has diverse knowledge in Postharvest Technology, emerging and new trends in Agriculture and also interested in livestock rearing.
Notable Achievements or Ongoing Research Projects:
- Received a citation and a smock of best award with two other teaching staff category on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Zebilla SHTS on 10th December, 2022.
